Sod Installation
Get an instant, lush green lawn that transforms your property in just one day.
(801) 810-0523Why Sod Beats Seeding Every Time
Seeding a new lawn takes months of watering, weeding, and waiting before you see real results. Professional sod installation delivers instant results with expertly cultivated grass that establishes quickly and creates a lush, even lawn from day one. Sod gives you a beautiful, mature lawn in hours. You can walk on it in weeks instead of months. And you skip the frustration of bare patches, weed invasions, and uneven growth.
Sod also prevents erosion right away. When you seed a bare yard, rain can wash away topsoil and create mud puddles. Sod holds the soil in place from day one. It keeps dust down, reduces runoff, and gives you a stable surface that looks great immediately.
The best part is the instant transformation. You wake up to dirt and go to bed with a lush green lawn. Your neighbors will ask what happened. Your kids can play outside without tracking mud into the house. And you can enjoy your outdoor space without waiting for grass to grow. That is the power of professional sod installation from BoldStone Herriman Landscapers.
Our Professional Sod Installation Process
Installing sod correctly makes the difference between a lawn that thrives and one that struggles. We have refined our process over hundreds of installations to deliver results that last.
Here is How We Do It
- Remove existing grass, weeds, and debris from the installation area
- Grade the soil to ensure proper drainage and eliminate low spots
- Amend the soil with quality topsoil and nutrients for healthy root growth
- Level and compact the soil to create a smooth, stable base
- Lay fresh sod in a staggered brick pattern for a seamless look
- Roll the sod to eliminate air pockets and ensure good soil contact
- Water thoroughly to help roots establish quickly
- Provide detailed care instructions for the first few weeks
We source our sod from local growers who specialize in varieties that thrive in Utah's climate. This means your new lawn is already adapted to our hot summers and cold winters. And because the sod is harvested fresh, it establishes roots quickly and stays healthy for years. If you also need irrigation system installation, we can coordinate both projects for maximum efficiency.
Taking Care of Your New Sod
New sod needs consistent care for the first few weeks while roots establish. Water is the most important factor. You need to keep the sod moist but not soggy. We recommend watering twice a day for the first week, then gradually reducing frequency as roots take hold.
Avoid walking on new sod for at least two weeks. The roots need time to anchor into the soil below. Heavy foot traffic can shift the sod and create gaps or uneven spots. After two weeks, light traffic is fine. After four weeks, your lawn can handle normal use.
Mowing comes next. Wait until the grass reaches about three inches before your first mow. Use a sharp blade and cut off only the top third of the grass height. This encourages the roots to grow deeper and makes your lawn more drought tolerant.
Once your sod is established, it needs the same care as any healthy lawn. Regular mowing, occasional fertilizing, and proper watering keep it looking great. If you prefer to skip the maintenance work, we offer ongoing lawn care services that keep your new sod in perfect condition year-round.
